About Conventional Polyaspartic Coatings

Over the past eight years, polyaspartic coatings have found their way into many application areas in the construction industry. Here are just some of them: Topcoats for sprayed polyurea membranes, Fast-setting garage coating systems, Highly decorative floorings, Concrete sealers for stamped/stained concrete, Binders for stone carpets, Pourable joint sealants, Binders for colored quartz sand production etc. Each field of application has its own individual requirements, but common to them all is the need for speed to allow resumption of normal working as quickly as possible.

Sprayed polyurea membranes are widely used in the waterproofing sector. The main benefit of these coating materials is weather-tolerant application. Thanks to their high reactivity, these membranes cure within 5 minutes of application. Unfortunately, polyurea membranes are not color-stable, which means that yellowing can occur within hours. Standard 2K PU topcoat technology can add color stability to the system but with a curing time of approx. 8–16 hours the application no longer enjoys the advantage of weather tolerance. Polyaspartic coatings are an ideal replacement to fast-setting polyurea technology.

Our innovative fast-curing 2K Polyaspartic Technology

Our 2K polyaspartic coatings based on amine-functional polyaspartic acid esters and aliphatic HDI-based polyisocyanates combine the advantages of aliphatic 2K polyurethane technology with the fast-setting properties of polyurea technology. A variety of properties from flexible to hard can be achieved by selecting the right combination of binders and hardeners. In addition, this technology allows short curing times, even with a moderate pot life.
